Class of 2011
To be eligible for the VOSH
Grant, a student must:
Be in the class of 2011 in
good academic standing with
a minimum cumulative grade
point average of 2.5 with an
exemplary professional
record at The New England
College of Optometry;
Been on a humanitarian trip
related to eyecare;
Submit a curriculum vitae
that includes details of the
humanitarian and volunteer
work that has been
accomplished;
2 recommendation letters,
both from different clinical
professors who the student
has worked with in patient
care. They must attest to
the student’s clinical
excellence. One reference
should indicate the
student’s ability to
contribute and work in a
community based patient care
facility;
Submit a paper on the
following topic:
Describe the experience and
impact a humanitarian trip
related to eye care has had
on you during your academic
training at The New England
College of Optometry. In
addition, describe an
interesting case you
participated in during the
humanitarian mission.
The paper must be written in
English, is not to exceed
1,500 words, 12 font size,
Arial type, single spaced.
The deadline for the grant
award application is
December 1, 2010. All
requested information needs
to be submitted
electronically and a printed
copy to the financial aid
office to the attention of
Ms. Carol Rubel (email:
rubelc@neco.edu) at The
New England College of
Optometry, 424 Beacon
Street, Boston, MA 02115.
The material will be
reviewed by the VOSH ONE
committee scholarship
committee. The winner will
be announced by February 15
2011. The winner will be
announced during the awards
ceremony at the graduation
ceremony May or June 2011.

service you have

the individuals you provided
the service to and yourself?
